Where are the case files that a defender uploads to Longeye stored?
All case materials uploaded to Longeye are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure and meets the FBI's CJIS 6.0.0 security policy. CJIS is the FBI's security standard governing how criminal justice information must be stored, transmitted, and accessed. It's the same framework that law enforcement agencies themselves are held to. All information is encrypted at rest and in transit using federally approved (FIPS 140-3) ciphers, and the software operates on a zero-trust system: not even Longeye's own employees can access your case materials.
Will Longeye use my organization's data or my client's information to train its model?
No. Longeye runs its artificial intelligence model through a private, fully closed system on Amazon Bedrock. Public defenders' case materials are never used to train any artificial intelligence model and can never surface in someone else's search. Longeye builds and tests its software using entirely synthetic data that mimics a real case without containing any protected information. This is fundamentally different from tools like ChatGPT, where your inputs can influence the model for other users.
How well do Longeye's findings hold up in court?
Longeye does not make decisions in the courtroom. The tool only surfaces evidence during the discovery and case-building processes. Every time you ask Longeye a question, its response directly cites back to a specific line in an original piece of evidence, so you know exactly where it came from. Defenders retain full control over what is presented in the courtroom.
How can I verify Longeye's security commitments?

Grant Details

Public defender offices and legal defense nonprofits are eligible to receive Longeye software completely free of charge. We firmly believe in Longeye's power to level the criminal legal playing field, reduce public defenders' workload, and help exonerate innocent clients. Everyone, regardless of circumstance, deserves zealous legal representation.

Eligibility

All public defender offices at the county, state, and federal levels are eligible. Additionally, indigent defense & exoneration organizations and nonprofits (such as the Innocence Project) are eligible to apply.

Criminal defense investigators who work for these organizations are also eligible.

Duration

A grantee receives access to Longeye for 12 months, which at termination can be renewed with the agreement of both parties, subject to the Design Partnership Agreement.
